How to cook a delicious turkey

  • Whole Turkey (about 12–15 pound)
  • 1 teaspoons Thyme   
  • 2 teaspoons Sage     
  • 2 teaspoons Rosemary 
  • 1/2  Butter   
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 2  onion
  • 1  garlic
  • 2 each celery and carrots
  • chicken broth




1.Thawing turkey.You should make your turkey completely thaw before cooking.If you want to thaw your turkey quicker,you could soak the turkey completely in cold water .Accumulate soaking time for 1 hour per pound. For example, a 6-pound turkey requires 6 hours and changing water every hour.

2.Braining. This is the most effective and direct way to increase the moisture of the turkey by salting it with salt water in advance.

3.Mixing spices and butter.Melt the butter a little and mix it with sage, rosemary, and thyme.

4.Season the Turkey .Wipe the surface of the turkey with kitchen paper to keep the skin dry. This will give a crispy taste. Fill the spice butter in the gap between the turkey skin and the meat.Then Brush the pepper and butter on the turkey surface and place the chopped celery, carrots, onions and spices(thyme,Sage,  Rosemary and garlic ) in the turkey.

5.Preheat the oven to 325℃.Place the turkey on the baking sheet and add a little chicken soup.Each pound of turkey needs to be baked for 13 minutes. Therefore, it is necessary to arrange the time according to the weight of the roast chicken. Check the turkey every 45 minutes and pour the juice on its surface.But you must remember that after removing the turkey,  close the oven door to avoid temperature drops.

6.Use a thermometer to determine if the turkey is cooked.When you Insert an instant-read thermometer into the thickest part of the thigh,the meat temperature should be 165 degrees.If not,you can put it back and bake it for more time.

7.Rest the turkey .In order to make the meat retains its juices,you should  gently wrap the turkey with tin foil and let it stand for 1~2 hours.
